Frequently Asked Questions

Curious to learn more about our anonymized analytics platform? We hope the additional questions and answers below can help you find what you are looking for! If you still have a question, please don't hesistate to reach out at via email and we will get back to you shortly.

Why anonymize analytics data?

Although businesses want to be more data driven and collect meaningful insights, they usually don't want to violate the privacy of their users by sending their data to large advertising companies. For quite a lot of metrics you want to track (number of unique visits, location and timing of visits, average time on site), you don't need to track one specific visitor -- instead you can track visitors as a group. Our anonymization method is similar to Apple's differential privacy mechanism, meaning you have high-quality analytics with very strict privacy guarantees. It's a win-win situation -- your users win because you are not tracking their every move and sending it to be used for advertising and you still get meaningful insights into your website or application.

Can I use it with data other than website tracking?

Absolutely! Our anonymization platform supports data from many different input types -- so if you can send JSON or want to connect it to internal data collection methods like a database or Apache Spark, we already support these different inputs. Have a special request? Please get in touch and let us know.

How does it work?

Anonymized analytics works by ensuring strict privacy guarantees on incoming data. We use time windows to track events you send us up to a certain point (i.e. per hour or per day), and then apply anonymization methods (such as supression and small noise additions). The output is then saved for you, or can be sent to an endpoint of your choosing. Want to read more? Sign up to recieve our anonymization whitepaper.

How do I sign up?

To provide the best quality service, we are onboarding users in batches; so get your name on the list! We will be in touch shortly and get you using Anonymized Analytics in no time! Interested in hosting your own anonymized analytics internally? Please reach out and we can advise on a setup that fits your needs.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on your data usage -- with plans starting as low as 100€ per month for 1GB of events. Every subscription starts with a two-week free trial, and you always have access to your latest usage numbers via your billing dashboard. Want to pause or cancel your subscription? No problem -- that is a one-click option. Our goal is to make anonymization easy for everyone, not to gouge you with hidden fees.

Can I build customized groupings and graphs?

Definitely! With our advanced graph setup, you can specify the exact time windows and groupings to fit your needs. Our API also allows you to collect the data at an endpoint you specify, so you can store it yourself, or always access our Analytics API to access your anonymized data in real-time.

Do you have a cool badge I can use to show my users I am Doing The Right Thing and respecting their privacy?

This is in the works, so stay tuned! (Suggestions welcome!)

How does this compare with the anonymization I'm using now (i.e. Simple Analytics, Fantom Analytics, self-made tool that drops IP addresses, etc.)?

Most analytics solutions, even privacy-preserving ones, don't perform rigorous anonymization by mathematical definitions. Because data privacy and security is our core competency, we ensure your data is protected with the highest of standards. We may not have all the features of an analytics solution, but we can guarantee state-of-the-art anonymization. At the end of the day, we are a security and privacy company first -- providing analytics because we strive to make anonymization and privacy easy and accessible for everyone.

Do you have a collection library for (insert language or platform here)?

We plan on open-sourcing several different collections libraries for Swift, Java, Python, Javascript and Objective-C. If you want to contribute, please send us a link and we are happy to promote!

Does this comply with GDPR?

Actually, strict anonymization of data makes the data no longer subject to GDPR -- meaning, free use of the anonymized data without GDPR restrictions. We comply with the strictest of standards for the Article 29 Working Party guidelines for anonymization.

Do I need a GDPR Processor agreement?

Unlikely, but if your Data Protection Officer (DPO) would like one, please write us with your requirements. We plan to offer an automated way to produce this document for your DPO.
